Milk Matters - November 2009
Dear Colleague
It's been a busy few months and my 4th grandchild was born recently so I thought that this Newsletter should have something on Lac Humanum.
I've prepared a DD of Lac-c; Lac-h and Lac-m so that you can compare them easily. ...view here
One of the most striking differentiating features is the food desires. Lac-c desires salt/spice because Life is so unpalatable. Lac-h desires comfort food: milky puddings; custard; chocolate in an attempt to recreate the feeling of being back at the breast. Lac-m, on the other hand, desires protein and stimulants as they are potent reminders of the first few days after birth.
With the medicalisation of birth the baby's system is flooded during the colostral phase with by-products of the drugs used during labour and afterwards. This occurs because the cellular junctions of the alveoli are open until lactogenesis is initiated at about day 3 and the cells then become tightly packed. Colostrum is about 90% protein; designed, in part, to ground the incoming vital force into the body as well as offer passive immunity to the host of diseases encountered by the mother in her lifetime and to which she has naturally acquired antibodies.
I hope that you find what I have to share both interesting and beneficial.
Best wishes
